Woodland Park, Colo. (KKTV) — A woman has been arrested after a missing 9-year-old girl, Audrey Martinez, was found early Wednesday morning, according to the Woodland Park Police Department.
Martinez was reported missing by her mother just after 1 p.m. on Tuesday. In their initial investigation, officers came into contact with 38-year-old Christina Ann Guerrero, who was reportedly questioned multiple times. Despite Guerrero claiming that Martinez was not inside her apartment, officers conducted a search, but the child was not found at that time.
After further conversations with Martinez’s mother, police began a more extensive search. Around 3 a.m. Wednesday, CBI agents and officers entered the apartment again and discovered Martinez unharmed in a bedroom closet.
Following the discovery, Martinez was returned safely to her family. Guerrero was arrested and charged with harboring a child and influencing public officials. She is currently being processed at the Teller County Jail.
