Christian Smith Arrested After Interstate 65 Crash, Carjacking, and Police Chase

PARK CITY, Ky. — Christian Smith, 22, of Flossmoor, Illinois, was arrested Sunday evening following a car crash and a subsequent police chase, according to Kentucky State Police (KSP).

Troopers responded to reports of a collision at the 30-mile marker of Interstate 65 around 6 p.m. Before their arrival, police received information that Smith was involved in the crash and had fled the scene after carjacking a black Subaru Forester.

The stolen vehicle was later spotted traveling north on U.S. 31-W. KSP attempted to stop Smith, leading to a pursuit that ended when he stopped on the northbound on-ramp to I-65 in Park City.

Smith now faces numerous charges, including attempted carjacking, theft by unlawful taking, two counts of first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree fleeing or evading police, fourth-degree assault, DUI, resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and speeding.
