MACON, Ga. — The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office (BSO) arrested two adults and two teenagers on Thursday afternoon after discovering illegal firearms and drugs during a search of a residence in the 3700 block of Greenway Place.
On Dec. 5, the BSO Special Investigations Unit received a tip that a Glock sear switch—an illegal device that can turn a handgun into a machine gun—was being delivered to a local residence. Following surveillance, investigators observed a package being brought inside the home, which prompted a search warrant.
Search Yields Guns and Methamphetamines
Upon executing the search warrant, authorities found 20 grams of methamphetamines and several firearms, including the Glock sear switch. Christian Winters, 17, was found with the illegal device, while 24-year-old Hunter Smith, a convicted felon and wanted in Alabama, was also in possession of a firearm during the search.
The following individuals were arrested:
Christian Winters (17): Charged with possession of a machine gun during the commission of a crime, theft by receiving stolen property, and possession of a firearm by a person under 18.
Devon Winters (17): Charged with possession of a machine gun during the commission of a crime.
Hunter Smith (24): Charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Brittany Sheffield (35): Charged with possession of schedule two narcotics and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Ongoing Investigation
All four suspects are currently being held without bond at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. This incident remains under investigation. Authorities encourage anyone with information to contact BSO at 478-751-7500.
