The Krishnalanka police in Vijayawada arrested a notorious ATM card thief, Chintala Suresh (47), on Friday. Suresh, who had been involved in approximately 25 theft cases across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, was apprehended with 78 stolen ATM cards and Rs2 lakh in cash.
According to South Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) U. Bangaru Raju, Suresh would target ATM centers, preying on illiterate individuals and senior citizens. He would offer to assist them, gaining access to their PIN numbers. Afterward, he would switch the victim’s card with one stolen from another ATM and withdraw funds before fleeing the scene.
