Cheyenne Man Manuel Cruz Munoz Faces Felony Charges for Fentanyl

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Manuel Cruz Munoz, a 36-year-old man from Cheyenne, is facing felony charges after being caught with fentanyl while booked into jail on an unrelated warrant.

According to booking sheets, Munoz was arrested at 10:40 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, by a sergeant with the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office who spotted him walking in the Maverik parking lot at 1706 S. Greeley Hwy. The sergeant noted that Munoz had an active warrant out of Laramie County for burglary, a felony that can result in up to 10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both, and misdemeanor theft.

The arrest warrant was signed by Circuit Court Judge Antoinette Williams on March 13, 2025. Munoz was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center.

However, the following day, authorities discovered that Munoz had five suspected fentanyl pills in his possession while incarcerated. He was subsequently charged with bringing a controlled substance into jail, a felony carrying a penalty of up to three years in prison, a $3,000 fine, or both.

On Monday, March 24, Munoz appeared in Circuit Court to face the new charges. His total bond has been set at $7,500 cash, and his preliminary hearings are scheduled for Tuesday, April 1, at 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Please note that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
