Chelsea midfielder Moisés Caicedo had his £160,000 Audi RS Q8 seized by Surrey Police after being stopped for allegedly driving without a valid licence. The incident took place on Friday, April 4, near Chelsea’s training ground in Cobham, Surrey.
A spokesperson for Surrey Police confirmed that a man in his 20s from Cobham was stopped by officers on Fairmile Lane. Upon investigation, it was revealed that Caicedo, 23, was driving without a licence. As a result, his vehicle was seized, and police have stated that their inquiries are ongoing.
The Ecuadorian international could face a fine or criminal prosecution if it is determined that he violated UK driving laws. At the time of the incident, Caicedo was in England, but he is currently in Poland with the Chelsea squad ahead of their UEFA Conference League match against Legia Warsaw on Thursday.
Chelsea FC has declined to comment on the matter, and as of now, there has been no official response regarding any internal actions.
Caicedo, who was signed by Chelsea in a £115 million deal from Brighton & Hove Albion in August 2023, had captained the Ecuadorian national team for the first time in September 2024, leading them to a 1-0 victory over Peru in a World Cup qualifier.
