CHARLESTON, Tenn. – Two members of the beer board in Charleston have been arrested on a five-count indictment, accused of stealing funds from a local nonprofit where they held leadership positions.
Jaime Beth Scoggins, 48, has been charged with theft between $2,500 and $10,000, tampering with evidence, and making false reports. Her husband, Stanton Anderson “Andy” Scoggins, 42, faces similar charges of theft between $2,500 and $10,000, along with making false reports.
The Hiwassee Outreach Program, a nonprofit that addresses food insecurities, clothing, and household needs for residents of Charleston, Calhoun, and Benton, is listed as the victim in the case. Jaime Scoggins is identified as the president of the program, while Andy Scoggins serves as a board member.
Both individuals have been released on their own recognizance and are scheduled to be arraigned on the charges on March 31 in circuit court. Since the indictment does not include police reports or affidavits, further details about the case are not yet available.
