Lacy Lakeview, Texas – A 42-year-old man, Charles William Chapman, was arrested Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery that occurred at a convenience store in Lacy Lakeview in August 2022. Chapman was booked into McLennan County Jail on a first-degree felony charge of aggravated robbery.
According to the arrest affidavit, officers responded to the robbery on August 14, 2022, at a store located in the 6000 block of the northbound Interstate 35 frontage road in Lacy Lakeview. The store employee reported that she was preparing breakfast items when she noticed a man leaning on the counter. As she approached him, she saw a handgun on the counter, and the man demanded all the money in the register.
The employee fled to the bathroom and locked herself inside. From there, she heard the man damaging the cash register. The suspect left with $100, according to police.
Investigators later posted surveillance images of the suspect on social media, which led to tips from law enforcement in Bellmead and Mexia. Distinctive tattoos visible on the suspect helped police identify him as Chapman.
Chapman remains in jail, with bail set at $15,000.
