Charles Owens Arrested for Child Sex Crimes in Aberdeen

Aberdeen, NC – Charles Owens, 27, of Hertford, has been arrested by the Aberdeen Police Department on charges related to child sex crimes. Owens faces multiple serious charges, including abduction of a child, indecent liberties with a child, solicitation of a child by computer, and first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

The investigation began on January 26, 2025, when Aberdeen investigators received a report of a missing juvenile. As they followed leads and worked to track the girl’s whereabouts, Owens was identified as a person of interest in the case.

Aberdeen police confirmed that their investigation revealed Owens had engaged in inappropriate and explicit communications with the juvenile. Working in collaboration with the Army Criminal Investigation Division and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Aberdeen investigators executed multiple search warrants. The evidence gathered during these searches led to the charges against Owens.

On February 5, 2025, Owens was arrested by the Perquimans County Sheriff’s Office at the request of Aberdeen investigators. He was subsequently taken into custody by Aberdeen authorities and transported to the Moore County Jail. Owens was denied bond for his charges.

The Aberdeen Police Department thanked the agencies involved in the investigation, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts to ensure the safety of minors and seek justice in such cases.
