Charles Ira Johnson Sentenced to 30 Years for Meth Trafficking

District Attorney Bubba Bramlett has announced the sentencing of Charles Ira Johnson, a man from Olive Branch, to 30 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Fifteen of these years are to be served day-for-day without the possibility of parole or early release.

Johnson was arrested following a traffic stop in Flowood on June 14, 2023, when police officers detected a strong marijuana odor emanating from the 2006 Chevy Trailblazer he was driving. During a probable cause search, officers found a small amount of marijuana and 4.5 kilos of methamphetamine hidden in a cardboard box in the front passenger seat.

Johnson was charged with aggravated trafficking of a controlled substance, a felony foreign warrant, and other misdemeanor offenses. District Attorney Bubba Bramlett expressed hope that the sentence would mark the end of Johnson’s criminal activities and serve as a deterrent for others considering illegal drug trafficking.
