In a tragic incident on Monday night in Chandigarh, a 24-year-old man was killed after a speeding Porsche collided with two scooters. The victim, Ankit, who was riding one of the scooters, died on the spot. Two women, who were on the second scooter, were injured in the crash.
According to police reports, the impact of the crash was so intense that Ankit’s leg was severed, and the women sustained severe injuries to their legs. The force of the collision completely destroyed one of the two-wheelers and caused significant damage to the Porsche, including the front wheel and the car’s front portion.
The driver of the Porsche, 38-year-old Sandeep Babuta, was arrested following the accident. Police said that Babuta, who was alone in the vehicle at the time of the incident, was traveling at high speed towards Raj Bhawan. Initially, the Porsche struck one scooter, which caused Babuta to lose control. The car then collided with another scooter, which was carrying two young women. After hitting the second scooter, the Porsche crashed into a pole, coming to a stop after traveling about 100 meters.
At the scene, police found the two Activa scooters and the Porsche. Ankit, the man riding the first scooter, was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The two women from the second scooter are currently receiving medical treatment for their leg injuries.
DSP Updaypal Singh, who spoke on the incident, said, “We received information about the fatal accident. Upon arrival, we found two scooters and the Porsche. The injured were rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, Ankit did not survive.”
