SHREVEPORT, La. — Catreece Madison, a woman accused of stealing thousands of dollars in merchandise from a local Target over 18 months, was arrested Saturday after attempting to flee from police.

Madison, who became known as the “Fire Exit Lady” due to her repeated use of the store’s emergency exit to evade capture, was apprehended after a foot chase through the Youree Drive Target and its parking lot.

Shreveport police linked Madison to at least 21 thefts from the store since September 7, 2023. The stolen merchandise, which included various goods, was estimated to total $10,000. Despite a lengthy investigation, Madison’s identity had remained elusive until now.

She faces a charge of felony theft for stealing $1,530 worth of goods on February 2, 6, and 10. Additionally, Madison has been charged with 18 counts of felony theft for incidents occurring between September 2023 and January 2024.

Madison is currently booked into the Shreveport City Jail as the investigation continues.
