Carzell Hunter & Ronald Harris Arrested for Walmart Theft

On Thursday, October 31, 2024, Millbrook police swiftly responded to a reported theft at Walmart on 145 Kelley Blvd. Officers were alerted that two men had allegedly stolen a large-screen television by placing it in a shopping cart and leaving the store without paying.

A member of the department’s Street Crimes Unit was nearby and quickly located the two suspects as they were attempting to load the TV into a vehicle. Both men were detained without incident and later identified by Walmart’s loss prevention staff. The stolen television was recovered and returned to the store.

The suspects, Carzell Hunter, 44, and Ronald M. Harris, 25, both residents of Montgomery, were arrested and charged with one count of Theft of Property 4th Degree. They were processed at the Millbrook Police Department and then taken to the Elmore County Jail, each held on a $500 cash bond.

Police Chief expressed frustration over the brazen nature of retail thefts, noting that criminals often attempt to leave stores believing there will be no consequences. The suspects were using a rented U-Haul truck, raising suspicions of possible plans to steal additional property.

The chief emphasized that Walmart employs advanced surveillance and a vigilant loss prevention team, making it challenging for thieves to escape unnoticed. He warned that law enforcement is always ready to respond, and those caught stealing risk facing jail time.
