Carson City, NV – A 57-year-old man, Jason Jeffery Wiles, was arrested on Monday for suspicion of felony grand larceny after allegedly stealing an RV. Wiles was taken into custody at 12:24 p.m. after an investigation into a vehicle theft report.
According to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, the theft occurred earlier that morning when Wiles, an acquaintance of the victim, drove off with her RV. The woman had left the RV running with the keys inside when she entered a bank. Upon returning, she discovered the RV was gone and immediately suspected Wiles had stolen it.
Deputies later found the RV parked, with Wiles sitting in the driver’s seat, unresponsive. Despite multiple attempts, Wiles did not exit the RV until after emergency responders intervened. He was evaluated for intoxication and submitted to a breath test, which registered a BAC of .330. Wiles was then medically cleared and arrested for grand larceny of a motor vehicle.
Wiles was booked into the Carson City Jail with a bail set at $10,000. The victim expressed her concern, noting the RV was her primary residence and contained all her belongings. The case remains under investigation.
