On February 4, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a case involving theft and financial exploitation of an 87-year-old victim. The investigation revealed that between December 2024 and February 2025, the caregiver, Angelyn R. Messick, 46, from Hurst, Illinois, stole over $23,000 from the elderly victim.
Investigators discovered that Messick, who was employed to care for the elderly individual, committed multiple thefts during this period. Based on evidence collected, authorities issued an arrest warrant for Messick on February 16.
The charges against Messick include:
Theft/Deception of more than $10,000 (Class 2 Felony)
Theft/Deception with intent from a senior exceeding $5,000 (Class 2 Felony)
Two counts of Financial Exploitation of the Elderly or Disabled, involving amounts between $5,000 and $50,000 (Class 2 Felony)
Messick was arrested and taken into custody at the Williamson County Jail. The Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to Williamson County State’s Attorney Ted Hampson for his help in the case.
