Car Fraud Case Two Arrested for Defrauding Vehicle Owners

The Commissionerate Police have arrested a man accused of defrauding car owners under the pretense of running a self-drive company. The suspect, identified as Satish Moharana, along with an accomplice, Amit Swain, allegedly took a Maruti Ertiga car on lease from the complainant, Soumya Swagat Ray, a car owner from Kendrapara.

According to Ray’s complaint, the duo established the Speedo Ride Self Drive Company and agreed to pay monthly rent for the vehicle. However, when Ray did not receive the payment, he inquired about it, only to be met with verbal abuse and threats from Moharana and Swain. They not only failed to pay the rent but also refused to return the car.

Furthermore, Ray claimed that the accused mortgaged his Maruti Ertiga to another individual for money. Following the complaint, police arrested Moharana and initiated a manhunt for Swain. Officials have also seized five vehicles from the accused. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the full extent of the fraud.
