Candice Wright Arrested in Drug Trafficking Bust in Newton, NC

A Lenoir woman, Candice Wright, was arrested by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office on January 23rd, facing several drug trafficking charges. Deputies stopped a vehicle on I-40, where they suspected the driver to be involved in drug-related activities.

During the traffic stop, a K9 unit alerted officers to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. Investigators discovered and seized approximately half a pound of fentanyl, along with $429 in cash and drug paraphernalia.

Wright, 29, was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including:

Trafficking in fentanyl by possession
Trafficking in fentanyl by transportation
Felony maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of distributing controlled substances
Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver controlled substances
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Wright, a Lenoir resident, is being held without bond and is scheduled for her first appearance in Catawba County District Court on January 24th, 2025.
