Cameron Francis, 49, has been charged with deliberate homicide following the tragic death of his girlfriend, Kimberly Goodson, 48. Francis allegedly shot and killed Goodson in her Polson home on the night of February 14, 2025.
Later that evening, after stealing Goodson’s car, Francis opened fire on Polson Police Officer Michael Wharton during a routine traffic stop. Fortunately, Officer Wharton was not injured.
Goodson’s son reported her missing on Sunday, expressing concerns about her safety due to her abusive relationship with Francis. When officers arrived at her home, they discovered Goodson’s body, and investigators determined that Francis had used a military-style ghost gun with armor-piercing ammunition and a high-capacity magazine.
Francis has a long criminal history in California, including violent offenses. He was arrested near Elmo after the shooting incident and now faces charges for both the murder of Goodson and the attempted murder of Officer Wharton.
