Convicted fraudster Callum Kearney, 23, has been jailed again after scamming two high-end car dealerships, including Ashford Motors in Rathnew, Wicklow, owned by well-known car dealer Nadia Adan.
Kearney posed as a wealthy buyer and used Photoshopped bank transfers to fraudulently obtain luxury vehicles. His scheme nearly cost Adan her business, as she operates on quick turnovers, using sales to fund new stock.
“It was turmoil for me all week,” Adan told The Irish Sun. “If I think I’ve two cars sold, I’m buying another two to replace them.”
Kearney pleaded guilty at Mullingar Circuit Criminal Court and received a three-year sentence, with 21 months suspended. He was already serving a 27-month jail term for a Bitcoin scam and was due for release in June before being sentenced again.
Judge Keenan Johnson noted Kearney’s expensive tastes and history of elaborate fraud. His latest scam highlights the dangers of digital payment fraud in the high-end car market.
