A man has been charged with the murder of 40-year-old Jonathan Dittia, who was found dead in a Nottingham home on 17 September 2024. Emergency services responded to a call at Eddleston Drive in Clifton around 8:30 pm, where they discovered Dittia suffering from severe injuries. Despite efforts from police officers and paramedics, Dittia was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a heartfelt statement, Jonathan’s family described him as a “gentle giant,” adding, “He has left a giant hole in our hearts. Gone but not forgotten.”
A suspect was arrested at the scene, and Caine Lonsdale, aged 34, from Lerwick Close in Nottingham, has since been charged with murder. He is set to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow of Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that Mr. Dittia’s family had been informed of the significant development in the investigation. She also assured the community that specially trained officers are continuing to support the family. “The thoughts of the investigative team remain with them,” Burrow stated, expressing hope that the swift arrest and charge of Lonsdale will offer some comfort to the public.
