Burlington Woman Denise Tisor, Man Arrested in $70K Ticket Scam

A woman from Burlington is facing more charges, and another man has been arrested, after allegedly selling fraudulent Taylor Swift concert tickets for her six-show stop at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.

Toronto police reported that the woman, using the alias “Denise Blackhawk” on Facebook Marketplace, offered tickets for Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour. She provided various concert dates and seat locations, and once a price was agreed upon, buyers sent e-transfers for full payment.

Some of these tickets were purchased in August 2023, when they first became available online. The accused informed buyers that the tickets would not be released until days before the concert, which began on November 14, 2023, with subsequent shows on November 15, 16, 22, 23, and 24.

However, victims discovered that their tickets were never transferred to their accounts on concert days. When they requested refunds, the woman allegedly claimed the money was gone.

Authorities confirmed that 28 victims were defrauded out of nearly $70,000 in total. On November 25, police arrested Denise Tisor, 56, of Burlington, on multiple charges, including 32 counts of fraud under $5,000 and 32 counts of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Tisor is now facing additional charges, including eight counts of Fraud Under $5,000 and eight counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.

In a related development, David Lloyd Blake, 56, also from Burlington, has been arrested and charged with 19 counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000. Blake is scheduled to appear in court on February 21.

Police believe there may be additional victims of this scam and are urging anyone who may have been defrauded to come forward.
