BSF and STF Arrest Cross-Border Drug Peddler in Ajnala, Seize Rs 5 Lakh

In a joint operation conducted by the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Special Task Force (STF), a cross-border drug peddler was arrested in Dalla Mallian village, located in the Ajnala subdivision. The arrested individual, identified as Gurjit Singh, hails from Khemkaran in Tarn Taran district.

The BSF recovered a total of Rs 5 lakh in drug money, along with a Chinese .30 bore pistol, a magazine with three live rounds, and a motorcycle from Singh’s possession. According to a BSF spokesperson, the raid took place early this morning, leading to the successful capture of the narco-smuggler who was allegedly involved in drug trafficking through the use of drones in the border areas.

Singh had been under police surveillance for nearly a month before his arrest. He was found staying at a relative’s house in Dalla Mallian, where the operation was carried out. After the arrest, he was handed over to the local police for further interrogation and legal proceedings.

The BSF has stated that Singh’s involvement in cross-border smuggling was part of a larger network using drones to transport drugs across the India-Pakistan border, a method increasingly used by criminals to evade detection.

This arrest is part of ongoing efforts to tackle drug smuggling in the border regions, where smugglers use various innovative methods, including drones, to transport illegal substances across borders.
