In a breakthrough investigation, police in Gadag district, north Karnataka, arrested two brothers, Srikanth Gudagura (29) and Prasad Gudagura (28), for a series of temple thefts. The siblings had been using Google Maps to identify less-secure temples and steal valuables. Police also discovered that the brothers had murdered their elder sibling a year ago.
The arrest led to the resolution of eight temple theft cases and seven chain-snatching incidents. The authorities seized valuables, including gold ornaments and cash, worth Rs 46 lakh.
The case was uncovered while investigating a temple theft in Gadag. Police arrested the brothers and their accomplice, Pradeep (24), from Ranebennur in Haveri district. Srikanth, a former jailer, was the mastermind behind the criminal gang.
