Brooklyn Man Arrested in Fairfield for Vehicle Theft and Possession of Stolen Property

Davon Miller, 29, faces multiple charges after being caught with a stolen Jeep in Fairfield, NJ

Fairfield, NJ – Davon Miller, 29, of Brooklyn, New York, was arrested in Fairfield on Thursday, March 20, 2025, on multiple charges related to vehicle theft and stolen property possession.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., Fairfield police were alerted by an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) that a vehicle matching the description of a stolen Jeep had entered the town. The vehicle’s license plate had been reported stolen in West New York, NJ, on March 16.

Officer Jayson Sickles spotted the white Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling eastbound on Route 46 and was able to stop the vehicle without incident. Additional officers arrived to assist with the investigation. Miller, who was driving the vehicle, was placed under arrest. Further investigation revealed that the Jeep had also been reported stolen in Suffolk County, NY, on January 30, 2025.

Two passengers in the vehicle were detained briefly but were released after it was determined they had no knowledge of the vehicle’s stolen status.

In addition to the stolen vehicle, officers discovered multiple credit cards and identifications in Miller’s possession that were not issued to him. Miller now faces several charges, including:

Receiving stolen property (2 counts)

Possession of a false government ID

Receiving a stolen motor vehicle

Possession of stolen credit cards

Multiple motor vehicle offenses

Miller was transported to the Essex County Jail, where he is awaiting his initial court appearance.
