British Man Arrested in Thailand for 2004 UK Murder

David Stuart Armitage, a 62-year-old British national, has been arrested in Thailand for the 2004 murder of his Thai wife, Lamduan Armitage. The arrest occurred on January 23, 2025, in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, after years of investigation into the case.

The Murder of Lamduan Armitage
Known as “The Lady of the Hills,” Lamduan Armitage’s body was discovered in the Yorkshire Dales, United Kingdom, in 2004. However, it wasn’t until 2019 that the body was positively identified through DNA testing. Authorities in the UK had been investigating the cold case for years, and Armitage was eventually tracked down in Thailand.

Extradition and International Efforts
Armitage’s arrest marks a significant step in resolving the case. He now faces extradition to the UK under the Thai-UK Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty. The case serves as a reminder of the international collaboration in solving cold cases and bringing criminals to justice.
