EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – A man and woman from Evansville are currently in the Vanderburgh County Jail after being arrested on various drug charges.
Around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, officers were patrolling W. Virginia Street when they spotted Brandt Johns outside an apartment building. According to an affidavit, Johns was wanted on multiple active warrants for his arrest.
As officers approached the apartment with their overhead lights activated, Johns attempted to flee towards the building. During this time, he reportedly pulled something from his pants and handed it to a woman at the front door, later identified as Heather Barnett.
Barnett surrendered the items to the police before both she and Johns were taken into custody. EPD officers stated that Barnett was also wanted on an active warrant.
The items turned over to police included three plastic baggies containing approximately 23 grams of methamphetamine, a small yellow plastic baggie with two fentanyl rocks, and a piece of tin foil with burnt heroin residue. Officers also discovered two plastic smoking devices in Barnett’s hoodie pocket.
Both suspects have been charged with Manufacture/Dealing Methamphetamine, Possession of a Cocaine or Narcotic Drug, and Possession of Paraphernalia.
