CLARKSTON, WA – A 28-year-old man, Brandon A. Wood, is facing multiple felony charges after a high-speed pursuit and subsequent arrest in Clarkston. According to court documents filed in Asotin County Superior Court, the incident began on the evening of August 20, 2023, when an officer spotted a speeding motorcycle on Highland Avenue. Despite the officer’s attempt to initiate a traffic stop, the rider accelerated, leading to a chase down several streets, eventually ending when the motorcycle crashed on Libby Street.
Following the crash, Wood allegedly fled the scene on foot, evading police by jumping fences and running through alleys. Officers from the Clarkston Police Department and the Asotin County Sheriff’s Office conducted a thorough search, ultimately finding Wood hiding under a bush at a nearby residence on 6th Street. Authorities also discovered $1,000 in cash on his person, and he was treated for injuries sustained in the crash.
A search of a black Osprey backpack believed to belong to Wood yielded 700 fentanyl pills, two 9mm firearms, and a BB gun resembling a Glock 17. One of the firearms, a Springfield Armory XD-9, was reported stolen in a burglary in Liberty Lake earlier that year. An additional $388 in cash was recovered, bringing the total cash seized to $1,388.
Wood, who has a lengthy criminal record with prior felony convictions in Washington and Idaho, was also wanted on a nationwide felony warrant for probation violation out of Idaho. Following the filing of charges, Wood faced felony charges including attempting to elude police, possession of fentanyl with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of methamphetamine. His bail was set at $75,000, and he remains in custody at the Asotin County Jail, awaiting further proceedings.
