Braeden Fletcher, 24, who was recently featured on Sarnia police’s Wanted Wednesday social media campaign, has been arrested and is currently being held at the Sarnia Jail. Fletcher faces multiple charges, including fraud over $5,000 and failing to attend court. His bail hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
Fletcher was accused of missing a recent trial, which had to be rescheduled due to his absence. Sarnia police released a photo of Fletcher wearing a grey hoodie and asked the public for assistance in locating him. However, they also warned against trying to approach or apprehend him.
On the day Fletcher was featured, there was confusion on social media when Sarnia’s emergency response team was seen stopping a vehicle near Russell and Durand streets. Some speculated the heavy police presence was related to Fletcher, prompting a Facebook conversation where an account associated with him denied involvement and claimed he planned to turn himself in.
It remains unclear whether Fletcher surrendered or was apprehended, but he appeared in a Sarnia courtroom on Monday afternoon, wearing a grey sweatshirt and standing in the prisoner’s box. The court ordered him not to contact a complainant in one of his cases. His charges, which span incidents from 2022 to 2024, have been adjourned until his bail hearing on Wednesday.
