Bolingbrook Man Arrested for $150K Scam in Longview, Texas

LONGVIEW, Texas — A Bolingbrook man was arrested by Texas authorities for scamming a local victim out of a significant sum of money, authorities reported.

The Arrest:
The Longview Police Department announced the arrest of Muhammad Muzammil, 23, who allegedly used fraudulent tactics to steal between $30,000 and $150,000. Muzammil was charged with felony theft of property valued between $30,000 and $150,000.

Targeted Scams:
Police stated that scams like the one carried out by Muzammil have become increasingly common, with elderly individuals and young adults being frequent targets. Such scams often involve deception, leading victims to believe they are participating in legitimate transactions, only to be defrauded.

The Longview Police Department is urging anyone who may have been targeted by similar scams to come forward and report the incident to local authorities. Investigations into these types of crimes continue as police work to prevent further fraudulent activities.
