Bobby Singh Shah Arrested for the Murder of Muna Pandey

A GoFundMe campaign to cover the funeral costs of 21-year-old Muna Pandey, as well as transportation expenses for her mother to travel from Nepal to Houston, had raised over $15,000 by Thursday. This comes after a 51-year-old man was arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with Pandey’s death.

Bobby Singh Shah, the accused, is said to have shot and killed Pandey during an aggravated robbery on Saturday. Her body, found with multiple gunshot wounds inside an apartment, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The Houston Police Department released a surveillance photo on Wednesday, showing a person believed to be involved in the murder. Shah was apprehended the same day during a traffic stop in northwest Houston, thanks to collaboration between SWAT officers and the Houston Police Department.

In addition to the capital murder charge, Shah was later charged with unlawful carry of a weapon.

As of Thursday morning, no defense attorney had been publicly listed for Shah.

Pandey, a student at Houston Community College since 2021, moved to Houston from Nepal. The GoFundMe campaign for her funeral expenses and her mother’s travel costs had surpassed $15,000 by Thursday.
