Eureka, Calif. — A 24-year-old man from Blue Lake, Steven Waggoner, was arrested on December 20 after being caught with drugs and a firearm during a traffic stop in Eureka.
At around 9:30 p.m., a deputy from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling the area of 5th Street and K Street when he noticed a man riding a bicycle while pushing a second one. Since the man had no visible lights or reflectors on his bicycle, the deputy conducted a traffic stop.
Waggoner, who was confirmed to be on probation for felony burglary and petty theft, was searched by the deputy. The search revealed 3.73 grams of methamphetamine and a pipe with white residue and black tar in his pockets. In his backpack, deputies discovered 19 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 5 ounces of marijuana, a revolver, and multiple rounds of ammunition.
As a result, Waggoner was arrested on several charges including possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, possession of meth, possession of psilocybin mushrooms, possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia, and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and ammunition. He was also arrested for violating his probation terms.
