Bishnah police have successfully solved multiple theft cases by recovering stolen ornaments worth ₹30 lakhs and arresting three individuals. The breakthrough came after a complaint was filed by Bindu Rani, a resident of Bhandrali, Bishnah, on November 16, 2024. Rani reported that burglars had broken into her house while she was attending a religious gathering, making off with valuable items such as gold ornaments, including Mangal Sutar, bangles, and chains.
In response to the complaint, an FIR was registered under sections of the BNS at Police Station Bishnah. The investigation was immediately launched under the leadership of SHO Bishnah, Inspector Sushil Choudhary, and the supervision of SDPO RS Pura, Nikhil Gogna, and SP Headquarters Jammu, IH Rather.
The team quickly identified and arrested a suspect, Rohit Chouhan alias Labhu from Hari Chak, Kathua. During interrogation, Chouhan admitted to leading a burglary gang that operated in Bishnah and surrounding areas. He also named his two accomplices—Sahil Kumar and Vishal Kumar, both from Hari Chak, Kathua—who were subsequently arrested.
The trio confessed to their involvement in the Bishnah theft, as well as other similar crimes in Bishnah and Miran Sahib. Based on their disclosures, the police recovered a total of Rs30 lakhs worth of stolen gold, silver, and other valuables.
In addition, the police uncovered six stolen bovines, leading to the registration of a separate case under FIR number 204/2024 at Police Station Bishnah, relating to cattle theft.
The police have now expanded their investigation, with efforts to uncover further criminal activities linked to the gang.
