Bhubaneswar Man Arrested for Rs 4.3 Lakh Loan Fraud

In a recent loan fraud case, the Chhend police arrested 38-year-old Rashmi Kanta Mishra for allegedly duping a man of Rs 4.3 lakh. Mishra, who runs Minati Enterprises at Birsa Munda Market Complex in Chhend, had promised to arrange a Rs 20 lakh loan for the complainant, 23-year-old Ganesh Behera, who wanted to open a dhaba in the Bonai area.

Over a span of four months, Behera paid Mishra a total of Rs 4.3 lakh in several installments, supposedly for processing the loan. However, when the promised loan failed to materialize, Behera filed a complaint with the police on October 10, triggering an investigation.

A three-member police team, led by Sub-Inspector N Tudu, tracked Mishra to Bhubaneswar after he had gone into hiding and closed his office. With assistance from Laxmisagar police, the team successfully apprehended him at a hotel near Kalpana Square on Sunday afternoon.

Mishra now faces charges for cheating and fraud, and further investigations are underway.
