The Bhadravati police have arrested S.S. Nithin, a 27-year-old man previously employed in the IT sector in Bengaluru, in connection with a major gold theft. The police recovered 259 grams of gold, worth over Rs16.5 lakh, which had been melted by the accused to remove identification markers.
The arrest occurred on November 3, when the police detained S.S. Nithin, a resident of Keshavapura Extension, Bhadravati. Nithin was allegedly involved in the theft of gold jewelry and had melted the stolen gold to avoid identification. Authorities suspect that the gold was originally stolen from multiple locations before being melted down for resale.
The police were able to track Nithin after investigating several theft cases involving gold in the area. Upon his arrest, the 259 grams of gold were seized, linking him to the thefts.
Nithin’s background as an IT worker in Bengaluru raised initial suspicions, as authorities believed his technical knowledge may have helped him plan and execute the theft. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover the full extent of his involvement in gold thefts and to identify any possible accomplices.
This recovery is considered a significant breakthrough for the Bhadravati police, who are working to identify additional victims and trace any further stolen gold.
