BRISTOL, UK – Bex McCullgh, 25, from Backwell in North Somerset, has been sentenced to eight years for child sex offences after attempting to meet a young boy in Bristol. McCullgh was arrested in October 2024 by officers from the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU) after traveling to the city for the planned meeting.
McCullgh pleaded guilty to three offences: arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence, attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, and attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity. At Bristol Crown Court, McCullgh was sentenced to four years in prison, with an additional four years on extended licence.
In addition to the prison sentence, McCullgh was added to the Sex Offender Register and made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order indefinitely. The case highlights the importance of ongoing online investigations to protect vulnerable children from sexual exploitation.
Det Insp David Wells from SWROCU said the sentence “reflects the threat” McCullgh posed to children and will help reduce the risk of reoffending.
