A 50-year-old man, Benjamin Matthews, has been charged with murder following the death of Nash Clyne, a 33-year-old father of three, in Acton, west London.
Clyne was killed around 4 AM on Sunday morning after reports of a fight and possible gunshots in the area. Police found him seriously injured on Birbeck Road, having staggered nearly 100 meters from Acton High Street. He died at the scene, while three others were also injured in the incident.
Matthews has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court today.
Tributes to Nash Clyne
Friends and community members have mourned Clyne’s tragic death, describing him as a respected father figure.
Shevonte Thomas, a childhood friend, said:
“He was a great, cool guy. He had three kids. He liked cooking and playing football. I don’t know how this could have happened. He was a nice, quiet guy.”
On Facebook, Carlos Davis wrote:
“Oh my god, what is going on??? What happened? RIP young bro, sleep with the angels.”
Another close friend, Tyrone Hypolite, added:
“Just last week for my birthday, we were chilling in the club. Can’t believe it.”
A witness also described Clyne as someone many in the community looked up to, emphasizing his role as a mentor and father figure.
Ongoing Investigation
Police believe the fatal injuries occurred on Acton High Street, with Clyne managing to stagger onto Birbeck Road before collapsing. A post-mortem examination is expected in the coming days.
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie urged anyone with information to come forward, especially those who were at Front Line Cuts barber shop or Paradise Cuts barber shop between 10 PM on Saturday and 4:30 AM on Sunday.
“A team of experienced detectives is working at pace to establish why Nash was murdered and bring those responsible to justice,” he said.
