Fargo Man Arrested for Burglary and Theft in Wilkin County

WILKIN COUNTY, Minn. (Valley News Live) — A 40-year-old Fargo man, Benjamin Emerson, has been arrested in connection with a burglary that occurred south of Barnesville.

According to the Wilkin County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, December 20, Emerson drove to the residence, parked in the garage, and entered the home. He allegedly rolled a safe from inside the house to the garage. Despite attempting to load the heavy safe into his truck with a floor jack, Emerson was unsuccessful. Instead, he used a chain to drag the safe into the yard and fled the scene.

A photograph of Emerson, along with his blue Chevrolet truck, was shared on Facebook as authorities sought to identify the suspect.

On December 27, Wilkin County Deputies, in coordination with Fargo Police Department Detectives, executed a search warrant at Emerson’s Fargo residence. He was arrested on local charges, as well as for burglary and theft, and is currently being held in the Cass County Jail.
