Bengaluru CCB Busts Gang with ₹2.3 Crore Loan Fraud

On Thursday, officials from the Criminal Investigation Department (CCB) arrested a trio for forging property documents to secure loans totaling Rs2.3 crore from the State Bank of India (SBI) between October 2022 and July 2023. The arrests followed a complaint filed by Dorai Raj T.G., assistant general manager of SBI, Bengaluru Central, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against the suspects.

The accused—identified as Shivanna, Syed Hashim, and Ranganath—are facing charges of cheating and forgery. According to police reports, another individual, Acchukuttan, applied for a loan to purchase a property belonging to Shivanna in Mallathahalli. After the bank verified the forged documents, it sanctioned a loan of Rs1.16 crore. However, Acchukuttan defaulted on repayments after making only the initial three installments.
