Barmer Police Arrest Damaram in Drug Trafficking Bust

n a successful anti-drug operation, Barmer police arrested a prominent drug trafficker, Damaram, after a raid at a grocery store in Vishnu Colony. The police seized 82 kg of poppy husk and 1.45 kg of opium, with an estimated market value of Rs 20 lakh. This operation was the result of a tip-off received by the Barmer district special police, collaborating with RIICO police teams.

The raid, executed on Thursday evening, led to the discovery of the illegal drugs stored in plastic bags at the grocery store. Damaram, the shopkeeper from Leelsar Sherpura Chauhatan, was arrested under the NDPS Act. Authorities are now investigating the supply chain and reviewing the shop’s ownership and lease documents. Any irregularities in these documents will lead to legal action against the property owner.

Investigations revealed that Damaram had been involved in drug trafficking activities for a long time. His arrest marks a significant step in tackling the growing drug trade in the region.
