Bank Manager Adeniyi Talabi Arrested for N650m Fraud

The Osun State Police Command has arrested Adeniyi Talabi, a bank manager in Osogbo, for allegedly stealing N650 million from 35 customers. According to a statement from police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola, Talabi is accused of committing fraud by obtaining money under false pretenses through a fraudulent scheme known as “proof of funds.”

The statement confirmed that Talabi had been suspended from his position at the bank as the investigation unfolds. It also indicated that he and his accomplices would face charges in court once the investigation is complete.

The police noted, “The Osun State Police Command, in its ongoing efforts to eliminate criminal activities, has apprehended Adeniyi Sunday Talabi, a 47-year-old resident of the Army Barracks Area, Kelebe, Iragbiji Road, Osogbo. He is charged with fraud, obtaining money under false pretenses, and conversion involving N650,850,000, affecting 35 victims.”

Additionally, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Umar, assured residents of the command’s dedication to combating crime in Osun and warned that the state would not serve as a refuge for criminal activity.
