Bangladeshi National Nazma Arrested in Kanpur for Staying Illegally

In a significant development, the Kanpur police arrested Nazma, a Bangladeshi national, for staying in India illegally using forged documents. The arrest was made as part of the ongoing ‘Operation Prabhat Prahari,’ an initiative where police are checking suspicious vehicles and individuals across the city.

Nazma, who had been staying under a false identity in the Radhapuram Kashyap Nagar area, was using the alias Pooja, a Hindu name. The police received a tip-off about Nazma and her roommates, Reena and Jyoti, who were planning to relocate. Acting on this intelligence, the police arrested Nazma and recovered several items from her possession, including a PAN card, ATM card, Dependent ID card, two white metal rings, three visiting cards, five mobile phones, and a sum of ₹849.

During interrogation, Nazma confessed that she was originally from Comilla, Bangladesh, and had illegally entered India about six months ago. She admitted that she had been living in Kanpur in secret, without valid travel documents such as a passport or visa. Nazma explained that she, along with her roommates, had been seeking work in Kanpur.

The police further questioned Nazma, and local intelligence officials and the Crime Branch are continuing their investigations to determine her exact motives for staying in Kanpur.

ACP Kalyanpur Abhishek Pandey spoke about the incident, confirming that Nazma’s inability to provide any legitimate documents raised serious concerns. Investigations are ongoing to understand the full scope of her activities in the city.

As the investigation continues, police have also arrested Reena and Jyoti, Nazma’s roommates, in connection with the case.
