Banderdewa Police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers, Seize Heroin in Operation Dawn

In a significant success under the Operation Dawn initiative, the Banderdewa Police apprehended two drug peddlers and seized 6.68 grams of suspected heroin during a special operation on October 7, 2024. This is part of the police’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.

The operation was executed based on reliable intelligence and led by SDPO Naharlagun Paul Jerang and OC Kipa Hamak with the support of SI Koj Tada, ASI L.P Mema, HC S.K Tiwari, and HC R.N Tagore. The operation was conducted with the close supervision of Mihin Gambo, Superintendent of Police, Naharlagun.

The police team targeted the Banderdewa market area, where they arrested Gem Tama (20), a resident of Keyi Panyor District, Arunachal Pradesh, and Kirtan Chetry (19) from Lakhimpur District, Assam. In their possession, the officers found the heroin and a syringe.

The police have registered the case and are continuing investigations into the broader drug trafficking network in the region as part of their efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the local community.
