Bahram Hassanshahi Arrested in Fraud Scheme Linked to Suicide

Authorities arrested Bahram Hassanshahi, known as “Persian Sean,” for allegedly selling an Encino house without the owner’s consent, leading to a tragic suicide. According to a recent federal complaint, Hassanshahi and his co-conspirators stole the identities of property owners, forged power of attorney documents, and sold properties illegally.

Hassanshahi reportedly received $180,000 from the sale of Robert Tascon’s home, which he admitted to using for drug purchases. Tascon, who battled depression and lost his home, tragically took his own life in September 2022.

Facing charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, aggravated identity theft, and conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine, Hassanshahi allegedly collaborated with Caroline Herrling in the 2021 sale of Tascon’s home for approximately $1.5 million. Herrling, previously sentenced to 20 years in prison for her role in a larger fraudulent scheme, was involved in multiple criminal activities, including dismembering a body.

Tascon’s house was his last asset, and after it was sold, he unsuccessfully attempted to reclaim it through legal means. His mental health struggles intensified following the fraudulent sale.

Investigators discovered forged documents that enabled the unauthorized sale of Tascon’s property, with Hassanshahi signing escrow documents on Tascon’s behalf. In interviews, Hassanshahi claimed he had only spoken to Tascon once about selling the home.

Hassanshahi’s case highlights a broader web of fraud involving Herrling, who targeted vulnerable homeowners, ultimately leading to severe crimes and tragic outcomes.
