In a major anti-drug operation, Assam’s Special Task Force (STF) intercepted a motorcycle in Cachar district on Sunday, seizing illegal narcotics worth around Rs. 20 crore. The operation, supervised by IGP Parthasarathi Mahanta, resulted in the arrest of Sahil Ahmed Laskar and the confiscation of 60,000 Yaba tablets and 125 grams of heroin. The drugs, estimated to have a street value of Rs. 20 crore, were found concealed in the vehicle.
Yaba, a powerful stimulant made from methamphetamine and caffeine, is known for its dangerous effects. The STF acted on a tip-off, targeting drug traffickers in the region, and the arrest of Laskar marks a significant achievement in combating the ongoing drug trade in Assam.
The operation underscores the state’s commitment to fighting the growing drug menace, as authorities continue their efforts to dismantle trafficking networks.
