Assam Police Seize 1.128 kg Heroin Worth Rs9 Crore, Arrest 4

The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police has arrested two drug peddlers from Manipur and seized over 1.128 kg of heroin, valued at Rs9 crore. The heroin was recovered from secret chambers of an SUV that was intercepted at Amingaon in Kamrup district. The drugs were hidden in 94 soap boxes.

The heroin was smuggled from Myanmar through Mizoram before being ferried into Assam. STF officials arrested the vehicle’s driver, Onkhogin Touthing, and co-driver, Thangkhaelien, both from Churachandpur district in Manipur. The duo planned to supply the heroin to drug peddlers Nurul Hussain and Bitul Ali in Hajo and Goreswar, respectively, who were also arrested.

This seizure is part of Assam Police’s ongoing efforts to tackle the illegal drug trade, which often involves smuggling routes through Myanmar and Mizoram. A case has been registered under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985.
