Assam Police Arrests 20+ in Singhania Fintech Scam, Hemanta Gogoi on the Run

In a series of coordinated operations, Assam police have arrested more than 20 individuals across three districts of the Barak Valley, linked to a large-scale financial fraud involving the Singhania Fintech Agribusiness Consortium Company Limited. The police sealed the company’s Silchar office at Ambicapatty and detained seven employees as part of the investigation.

Earlier operations had already been carried out in the districts of Hailakandi and Karimganj. In Hailakandi, 12 people were arrested, and two more were apprehended in Karimganj. According to sources, the alleged mastermind behind the scam, Hemanta Kumar Gogoi, remains untraceable. Despite raids at his office and residence in Guwahati, police have been unable to locate Gogoi, and his mobile phone has been out of service. A team from Hailakandi has intensified its search for him, especially after he recently inaugurated a new branch of the company in the Barak Valley.

Among those arrested in Hailakandi is Amjadul Majumdar, the president of the minority cell of the BJP. Following his arrest, the party promptly expelled him from his position.

The investigation continues as authorities seek to dismantle the fraudulent operations and bring the main suspect to justice.
