In a major crackdown, the Ashok Nagar police arrested five men, including a Senegalese national, in two separate incidents involving the possession of methamphetamine. The police seized a total of 69 grams of the drug from the suspects.
On Sunday, acting on a tip-off, the police conducted surveillance in the area and spotted three men behaving suspiciously. Upon checking, they recovered 59 grams of methamphetamine from their possession, along with Rs 32,000 in cash. The arrested individuals were identified as S Sunil alias Jayaprakash (30) from Bengaluru, Victor Wade (31) from Senegal, and Pushpendra Singh (24) from Rajasthan.
In a separate incident on Friday, the police arrested two more individuals, Naim-il-Haq (31) from Bengaluru and J Nirmal Prince (35) from Coimbatore. The authorities recovered 10 grams of methamphetamine from them during the arrest. Following their inquiry, all five men were remanded to judicial custody.
This latest bust highlights ongoing efforts by the Ashok Nagar police to combat drug trafficking and consumption in the region.
