Asheville, N.C. — Jermaine Brehon, an Asheville man, was convicted in early December for his involvement in a murder-for-hire scheme. Brehon, 39, was sentenced by Judge Jacqueline Grant on December 9 to serve a prison term ranging from 4 to 7 years after pleading guilty on December 2 to felony solicitation to commit first-degree murder, among other charges.
Brehon was indicted in September 2021 after his arrest on separate charges. During an investigation by the Asheville Police Department, officers found evidence on Brehon’s mobile phone, including Facebook messages that revealed a plot involving Brehon and another individual to hire someone to kill a third party for money.
When questioned by investigators, Brehon admitted to planning the murder-for-hire but stated he never intended to carry out the killing himself. Instead, he planned to pay someone else to do it. The intended victim was unharmed, and authorities found no further actions taken to progress the plot.
