Mulki police have successfully apprehended a 20-year-old man, Arun, in connection with a house burglary case. The police seized gold ornaments valued at Rs2.56 lakh that were stolen from a residence in Karnadu village.
The incident occurred on November 6, when the suspect allegedly broke into the house of Mallamma in Lingappayya Kaadu Bijapur Colony, Karnadu village. The thief forced open the back door of the house and stole 64.2 grams of gold jewelry. Following a complaint filed by Mallamma on November 7, Mulki police initiated an investigation and registered a case.
On November 8, Mulki police, led by Inspector Vidhyadhar D. Baikarikar, apprehended Arun and recovered the stolen gold jewelry. The seized items include:
The total weight of the recovered gold is 64.2 grams, which matches the amount stolen from the victim’s house.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Mangalore City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal IPS, with DCP Law and Order Siddharth Goel IPS and DCP Crime and Traffic Dinesh Kumar providing oversight. ACP Srikant of the Mangalore North Division led the investigation, with significant contributions from PSI Anita H.B., ASI Harishekhar, Head Constables Shashidhar and Chandrashekhar, Joyce Suchita D’Souza, Constable Sunil, and MPC Chitra.
Arun, who resides near Lingappayya Kaadu Mallikarjuna Math in Karnadu village, Mulki Taluk, and has a permanent address in Bijapur district, has been placed under judicial custody. The investigation continues as the police work to determine if Arun was involved in any other similar incidents.
