Maitri Vihar Police in Bhubaneswar have arrested a man, Artabandhu Jena, on charges of embezzling a staggering Rs 5.35 crore from his employer, Sai Darbar Infratech Pvt Ltd. Jena, who was employed at the company, allegedly misused funds entrusted to him for land transactions. Instead of using the money for its intended purpose, he siphoned off large sums to purchase luxury cars and properties.
The accused is reported to have spent a significant portion of the stolen funds on expensive cars and even acquired land in the names of his wife and relatives, living a lavish lifestyle at the expense of his employer. His actions went unnoticed for a period until the company’s owner filed a formal complaint with the Maitri Vihar Police Station.
Despite initial inaction by the police, the matter escalated when Jena approached the Orissa High Court. Acting on the court’s directive, the Maitri Vihar Police finally arrested Jena and produced him before the court. Authorities have also launched an investigation to locate his wife, who is believed to be involved in the fraudulent transactions.
Further investigations into the case are ongoing, as police seek to uncover the full extent of Jena’s embezzlement and his lavish spending spree.
